The success of the Silver Dawn prompted Rolls-Royce to pursue its post war policy of producing standard factory built coachwork with the introduction of the all new Silver Cloud in early 1955. John Blatchley who was chief designer at Rolls-Royce at this time was given the task of styling the new coachwork and his work met with wide approval. The new offering from Rolls-Royce was larger in size than its predecessor but is still considered to be one of the most elegant and balanced models ever produced. Chassis No SGE62 was originally completed in early 1958, to be stocked by Rolls-Royce retailer J. Cockshoot and Co Ltd. It was ordered in smoke over sage green with a red leather interior. It was supplied to its first owner, a company named Fred R Dawes Ltd of Manchester in May of 1958. It was first acquired by Frank Dale & Stepsons in 2009 when prepared and supplied to a long standing customer who has used the car sparingly over the past few years. The coachwork is now finished in Tudor and shell grey, whilst the original and undamaged leather interior still remains. It is fitted with picnic tables, standard automatic transmission and power steering. The walnut dashboard woodwork was removed and re-veneered in recent years so presents beautifully. Modern stereo equipment has also been fitted recently. It presents very well and has recently been prepared for sale once again, coming serviced, tested and thoroughly checked.
