The Jaguar XJ-S had been under development since 1968 and as a 2 2 fixed head coupe it was intended as a replacement for the now legendary E Type. From the beginning it was only available with the V12 engine which gave excellent performance with 0-60mph being dispatched in a very respectable 6.9 seconds allied to a top speed of 150mph. Later in the XJ-S''s life it was also available with a six cylinder engine and a manual gearbox. As with any vehicle that has had as long a production life as the XJ-S, there have been major developments. Two of the more significant ones for the XJ-S were the launch of the Cabriolet in 1983 and later, in May 1988, the Convertible.
Manufactured in 1989, the previous owner of this particular example was Bellway plc and it was bought by the current owner in October 1997 having completed on
