Whilst we all remember the famous chases in such glamorous vehicles as Aston Martins and Lotuses, sometimes a secret agent has to save the world using the more ‘utilitarian’ vehicles available to him when time is of the essence. Was it not a Citroen 2CV which enabled Bond to escape the clutches of Gonzales’ henchmen in ‘For your eyes only’?
The Citroen would however have seemed luxurious to Bond on his next mission, ’Octopussy’ where he raced against time to thwart the evil plans of Prince Kamal Khan and General Orlov to steal the Russian imperial jewels and set off a nuclear bomb in an American airbase in Germany, the bomb being hidden within the cannon of Octopussy’s circus’s Human Cannonball.
