The Rolls-Royce Phantom is the sixth model in the history of the legendary British super-luxury brand to carry the Phantom name. What has not changed is the luxury maker’s pursuit of the ultimate in comfort, convenience, and now electronic wizardry. Details abound; it is the little things that matter. Not counting the engine and body, it takes 260 hours to build a Phantom compared to 25 hours for the typical car—not counting any bespoke features. As Sir Henry Royce once said, ‘Strive for perfection in everything you do’.
The new Phantom was introduced in 2003; the first new model introduced under the ownership of parent company BMW. As such, it featured a completely unique chassis, body, and interior distinct from anything under the corporate umbrella. A silky smooth 454-horsepower, 6.75-litre V-12 and six-speed automatic transmission provide seamless acceleration while the active self-leveling air suspension with height-adjustable shock absorbers ensure unparalleled ride comfort.
The example on offer was completed in August 2007 and delivered to its first owner through Euro Motorcars in Bethesda, Maryland. A well specified example, the exterior is finished in a subtle Blue Velvet Metallic exterior that truly shows its radiance in direct sunlight. Inside, the extravagantly appointed interior features the seat theatre package and built-in “coolbox” for beverages, making extended journeys comfortable and easy. In addition, traditional wood veneer covers the instrument panel trim and even the steering wheel spokes. The Rolls-Royce is documented by a set of invoices, with the most recent detailing a service to the air conditioning system and the mounting of new tyres in the spring of 2020.
With just 19,063 kilometres showing on the odometer at the time of cataloging, this Phantom has remained in wonderful condition nearly 20 years after its completion at the Goodwood factory, and in the pantheon of Rolls-Royce it stands proudly among its predecessors.
