Built to the highest standards, Packard produced some of the finest American cars of the prewar era. In 1924, the Packard Single Eight was introduced as the company’s first eight cylinder and, for 1926 models, the Eight range increased dramatically as more custom coachwork offerings were made available by Derham, Dietrich, Fleetwood, Holbrook, and Judkins. Believed to have originated in California, this 1929 Packard Phaeton wears a Dietrich-designed body and believed to have been delivered by Earle C. Anthony, the legendary West Coast Packard distributor, as supported by the Packard data tag dating delivery of this car as April 11, 1929. While its early history remains undocumented, the vehicle is known to have been part of a collection in Connecticut prior to its acquisition by the current owner in 2007.

In the care of a prominent private collector of prewar and Brass Era cars for the last 18 years, this Packard is a true preservation treasure. Remaining in largely original condition today, this example showcases its original interior, and exceptional preservation throughout. A notable deviation from its original finish is an older repaint, which complements its charming, timeworn patina and highlights decades of meticulous care. These features earned it a prestigious Historic Preservation Original Features (HPOF) trophy at the AACA Eastern Fall Meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Additionally, in 2013, this remarkable Packard was shown at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, a testament to its enduring appeal.
