Beschreibung

The first factory Porsche 911 racer, the 911 R was conceived as a homologation version of the standard 911 S, re-engineered with fiberglass bodywork, titanium connecting rods, and a long list of suitably exotic modifications. Roughly 500 pounds lighter than a typical 911 and producing 210 hp at a lofty 8,000 rpm, the R’s performance would have been shocking for a car displacing twice its modest 2.0 liters. Only 20 production examples were ever built and most were painted Light Ivory.

Restored by Porsche specialist Gaswerks Garage in Paramus, New Jersey, this stunning 911 R Tribute began life as a carefully selected 1967 911. Gaswerks Garage lavished meticulous attention on the Porsche during the restoration, incorporating a 100-liter fuel tank, fiberglass front fenders, and countless other details. The Porsche is fitted with a custom-built, magnesium-case 2.0-liter 911 unit from a 1969 911 E. It features JE Pistons, Elgin camshafts, titanium valve springs, twin-plug heads, a pair of PMO carburetors, and a fiberglass fan shroud. Power is channeled through a lightweight flywheel, performance clutch, and rebuilt transaxle, and new KONI shocks and struts were fitted, among many other upgrades. For the interior, date-coded green-face gauges were installed, along with a 10,000 rpm tachometer, lightweight seats with corduroy inserts, and Britax vintage seat belts. Beautiful and lightweight, this 911 R Tribute offers Porsche collectors a relatively attainable, R-rivaling driving experience.
