Beschreibung
The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 through to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than its predecessor, the Silver Cloud, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes replacing drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous models. It featured a 189bhp 6.75 litre V8 engine from 1970 onwards, mated to a Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission supplied by General Motors. The superb ride quality achieved in the Shadow was thanks to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension.
This wonderful example is presented in Larch Green with a tan leather interior and tan vinyl roof covering. This Silver Shadow I has been the daily driver of our client's father for the last 50 years, he purchased it from H.R. Owen and it was believed to have been their demonstration model. Our client has only taken ownership this year owing to his father's advancing years and inability to drive. The interior tan leather is in good condition considering its age, as is the walnut door cappings and dashboard with the headlining showing no marks upon inspection. There is some fading of paintwork to the front wings at the front and some minor bubbling to the rear doors near the windows, otherwise, for a car of this age with really only one owner since 1975, its general condition is commensurate for its age. The service books have been stamped from new at regular intervals up until 2000 when the mileage was 80,953 (now reading 87,614). A true time warp example with such low ownership and great service history, this is a 'one of a kind' opportunity to enter the world of Rolls-Royce luxury. Consigned by James Good
