Beschreibung
The history of the World Rally Championship and Lancia went hand in hand for years, with legendary machines like the Fulvia and the Stratos occupying top positions in the 1970s. The 1980s brought with it new rules and a new star – the Lancia 037.
Codenamed Abarth Project SE037, it was based on the Lancia Montecarlo's central monocoque and had a fiberglass and Kevlar body, developed in the Pininfarina wind tunnel, which employed the best aerodynamic techniques of the time.
The engine used was a Fiat unit, prepared by Abarth and derived from the victorious 131 Abarth, with 2 liters of displacement and a Volumex supercharger, which in competition specification exceeded 300 Ps and propelled the 960 kg of the 037 to very high speeds!
With names such as Walter Rohrl and Markku Alén at the wheel, the Lancia 037 became one of the most celebrated legends of the famous Group B and is the last rear-wheel drive World Champion.
Due to FIA homologation requirements, 207 examples of the 037 were built in its Stradale version. All painted in the traditional ‘Rosso Corsa’ with the 2-liter engine producing 205 Ps via a five-speed ZF transmission.
This example, with chassis number 121 and engine number 232AR4, was built in 1984 and had a brief stint in competition in Italy, having won some races. It was restored in 1992, having been 100% converted to Stradale specification, and received its first registration, plate CO D09606, in Milan.
It arrived in Portugal in 2004 and was part of a private collection focused on limited production cars, having covered just 2,400 km since 1992.
The 16-inch Speedline wheels are in excellent condition and have Pirelli PZero tires fitted, the original bodywork shows few signs of age and the engine has been lovingly maintained over the past 20 years.
It comes with extra rear glass, a document folder with all the information, invoices and maintenance history and is the ideal collector's piece for true fans of the golden era of rallying.
