Chassis No. 486229135

The 1948 Cadillac lineup, advertised as "The New Standard of the World," marked a transformative moment in automotive design. Originating from a 1941 visit by General Motors designers to Selfridge Field near Detroit where they viewed the then-secret Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter plane, the first post-war Cadillacs were adorned with subtle tailfins that mimicked the aircraft's unmistakable twin-tail treatment. These forward-looking fins would soon become both a Cadillac signature feature and a widely imitated styling element across the global auto industry for decades to come.

A digital copy of its original build sheet shows that this elegant Series 62 Convertible was ordered to the account of Logsdon Motor Co. in Boise, Idaho, and shipped on 15 July 1948 finished in a Madeira Maroon exterior as it presents today. According to previous research, the car was restored in 1993 and subsequently garnered numerous Cadillac-LaSalle Club awards, including First Primary and First Senior, culminating in Best of Show honors in the Post-War category at the 1994 Grand National. The car presents with a dignified tan leather interior, complemented by matching tan carpeting and canvas power convertible top. Notable features include its polished wheel covers, wide whitewall tires, fender skirts, and a streamlined instrument panel featuring a radio, cabin heater, and one-year-only drum-style cluster. Thanks to care and regular maintenance rendered by the Academy of Art University Collection since 2011, the car maintains a fine condition with a light, attractive patina throughout.

Powered by a robust L-head V8 engine mated to a smooth-shifting Hydramatic transmission, this award-winning Series 62 Convertible Coupe would make an exceptional addition to any classic car collection, suitable for both show events and open-air weekend cruises.
