Chassis No. 44974550

Engine No. 51856977

The 1942 Buick Roadmaster, a masterpiece influenced by Harley Earl, was a marvel of design. It was longer, lower, and roomier, featuring a longer wheelbase, a vertical bar grille, and unique "Airfoil" fenders that later evolved into the iconic "Sweepspear" design. The coupes adopted the fastback Sedanet style from 1941, and the one-piece hood was double-hinged, a design innovation that allowed either side of the engine compartment to open.

Post-war, the 1946 Roadmaster saw reduced chrome, swept-back fenders, and a "bombsight" hood ornament. The instrument panel was two-toned with woodgrain, except in convertibles. In 1948, the Roadmaster received a new series script on the front fenders, a black steering wheel, and a gray two-tone instrument panel. Optional custom trim included cloth upholstery with leather bolsters. The new optional Dynaflow automatic transmission was introduced and became standard one year later, in 1949.

Beautifully restored in two-tone Cumulus Grey and Sunmist Grey, this 1948 Buick Roadmaster Sedan is a scintillating example of post-war Buick design. From the gleaming chrome and stainless-steel trim to the well-detailed engine bay, it presents well with the correct components used throughout its restoration. The interior features a beautiful grey cloth with subtle blue stripes, with limited wear visible on the seats, headliner, or dashboard. The car has outstanding features like an accessory Fulton Sunshield, wide whitewall tires, Sonomatic AM radio, accessory headlight top covers, bumper guards, and even a tissue dispenser!

With the up-and-coming highway system in mind, Buicks of this era represent excellent-driving cars that the whole family can enjoy. So, whether it is for a family cruise or to the next car show, this 1948 Buick Roadmaster Sedan is a sure-fire treat for all.
