The sixth generation of the Porsche 911 was dubbed the 997 and introduced in 2005. It retained the previous model's basic profile but drew on the 993 for detailing. In addition, the new headlights reverted to the original bug-eye design. The interior was similarly revised, with strong links to the earlier 911 interiors while at the same time looking fresh and modern. Initially, two versions of the 997 were introduced, the rear-wheel-drive Carrera and Carrera S. In late 2005 Porsche introduced the four-wheel drive versions of the 997, the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S which were announced as 2006 models. The 997 remains a worthy model of one of the most celebrated sports cars ever produced and also received a vast amount of positive reviews from the worldwide motoring press, with Jeremy Clarkson, a known detractor of Porsche cars, noting that the 997 will "make love to your fingertips and stir your soul."
The Carrera 2S is often dubbed as the best all-rounder in the world of 911's and this is an exceptionally original example with the now highly sought after manual gearbox. Finished in the delightful colour combination of Seal Grey with grey leather interior, this low mileage example really needs to be seen to be appreciated. The seats show hardly any signs of wear, and the paintwork appears to be from the factory with only minor blemishes which could be easily rectified but show how original this car is. Fitted with a factory sunroof and rear parking sensors it has also been fitted with an upgraded touchscreen navigation and entertainment system, although the original is also supplied. Having covered less than 7,000 miles in the last ten years it comes with its original bookpack showing six OPC service stamps up to 2017 and a further two Porsche Specialist services, the most recent being July 2024. It also has two keys, current V5C and full MoT history backing up how well this car has been looked after. This is a car to be enjoyed by a true enthusiast and could be put into show condition with minimum effort. Consigned by John Dutton.
