The sleek superformed aluminium body of the DB9 was initially designed by Ian Callum but had also been significantly influenced by the next director of AM design, Hendrik Fisker. It was powered by a third generation version of the now familiar 6.0 litre, V12 and has a top speed of 186mph. The DB9 was the first of what was to become a long line of production Aston Martins to use VH architecture; using superformed parts in the chassis and footwell as well as the body panels. The individual die-cast, extruded or stamped aluminium elements of the VH platform are bonded with strong adhesives and self-piercing rivets to make a lightweight but stiff backbone. The DB9 body shell weighed 25% less than that of the DB7 but has double its torsional rigidity.

First registered on the 12th July 2006 to our vendor and supplied by Stratstone of Mayfair, this example is presented in Meteorite silver with Obsidion Black leather. A one owner car, this V12 GT has also only covered a mere 21,250 miles from new, as our vendor worked away from home for much of the year. Comprehensively serviced by Aston Martin Stratstone ten times until 2016, before servicing work recently moved to Spiros Motor Technicians in North West London with the last service in November of 2023. The bodywork and paint are in generally very good condition. In the cabin, the black leather is in good order with only slight wear to the driver bolster, which is to be expected. We are informed there are no known faults with any of the electrics or switchgear and the car is not due for any outstanding recalls.

Offered with the original book detailing maintenance, an MoT certificate with no advisories until November 2024 and all three original keys and remote fobs are present. A superb grand tourer, presented in very good condition with comprehensive maintenance history. A joy to drive, emitting a very throaty staccato sound from the characterful V12 engine, whether cruising on a wave of torque or wringing it out in fast road driving. With low mileage and a timeless colour scheme, this particular car is sure to delight its next owner and is ready for a trans-continental road trip or club tour. Consigned by Mathew Priddy
