Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin founded Lancia & C. Fabbrica Automobili on the 29th November 1906 in Turin, Italy.

The company quickly became renowned for innovation.

Among the Italian sports brands of the 1950s, Lancia occupies a special place. Without showing off, the brand had built up an image which managed to mix refinement with luxury and technical innovativeness, and the Flaminia symbolizes all of that.

Introduced in 1957, the Flaminia was Lancia's flagship model at that time, replacing the Aurelia.

It was available throughout its lifetime as saloon, coupé and cabriolet.

The Flaminia coupé and convertible were coachbuilt cars with bodies from several prestigious Italian coachbuilders.

The Touring bodied cars were all ‘Superleggera’ construction with hand crafted aluminium bodies and beautifully trimmed interiors.

This formula complimented Lancia’s fabulous chassis & engine and these cars were built in limited quantities to compete with period GT cars from Maserati or Aston Martin.

The Flaminia was named after the "Via Flaminia", a road leading from Rome to Ariminum (Rimini). This respected the established Lancia tradition of naming individual models after Roman roads.

The Flaminia’s engine was a continuation of the Aurelia’s and world’s first production V6.

Mounted longitudinally, the power was delivered via a rear mounted four-speed transaxle.

A total of 1,550 2.5 Litre GT Coupés were built by Carozzeria Touring between 1957-62.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

This specific example is a first series Flaminia Touring Coupe of which 863 examples were built.

The ‘Certificato Di Origine’ on file confirms this car was delivered to Carrozzeria Touring on 22nd of February 1960.

The former owner acquired the car in approximately 2014.

From 2015 Harry Lamme carried out the body restoration and very well known for their amazing quality, Mugello Engineering BV in the Netherlands carried out the technical part of the Lancia.

The owner’s brief was simple. He wanted to prepare the car to the highest possible standard and to use as many original parts as possible.

One can admire the commitment and dedication of the owner and of the mechanics team to make this Flaminia one of the best it could be.

The car is stunning!

The work carried out was certainly a labour of love and it cost a small fortune. There are receipts on file for in excess of  € 75,000.

The car has been used sparingly since the work was completed and shows therefore in an amazing condition.

CONDITION EXTERIOR

Walking around the car we really struggle to find any imperfections.

The lovely bodywork has very well fitted body panels and a very good paint finish with a nice shine

We haven’t been able to find any signs of use on the paint.

The chrome work is all in very good condition and the same can be said about the rest of the external trim, including the lights and lenses.

The glass is also in a good condition.

The window surroundings are all original. Beautiful and lightly patinated.

The surrounding of the front window is the same. In beautiful condition but not brand new.

CONDITION INTERIOR

Inside, the Flaminia presents beautifully.

The simplicity of the dashboard is a work of art and ads to the attraction and elegance of the car.

The instruments and controls are all in good working order.

The finish of the upholstery is excellent and the seats are very comfortable.

The thin timber steering wheel is definitely a feature and it complements the interior beautifully.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

To start a Flaminia you insert the key into the ignition, turn it 90 degrees and then push it like a button.

On our recent test drive the car drove beautifully.

The engine sings and it has plenty of power.

The gearbox is smooth and the steering is precise, providing positive feedback through the steering wheel.

Needless to say, with all the work done on the car it feels ‘just right’ when you drive it!

Due to Lancia’s racing histories and innovative and unconventional technical features, the Lancia Flaminia is not only looking as a piece of art but is also driving extremely nice.

This specific example is a car which gives immediately an invitation to be driven.

It’s a relative simple car to drive. Easy to handle but seriously sportive to drive.

These very beautiful and capable Lancia's have recently been discovered in a major way by knowledgeable and sophisticated collectors.

The former owner of the car has had to make the difficult decision to sell his beautiful Flaminia to us.

It is not often that a Lancia Flaminia of this quality is offered for sale.
