• Benefits from an engine-out service and belt change in February 2024 by official Ferrari dealer Passione Sportiva; received new tyres and air conditioning system renewed

The 12 cylinders at the heart of Ferrari’s Berlinetta Boxer ran in a layout that was horizontally opposed, so the engine was not a true boxer. Instead, owing to the gorgeous Pininfarina design, the “BB” suffix was borne out of Maranello engineers affectionately comparing their new flagship to French actor Brigitte Bardot.

Ferrari manufactured just 929 examples of the carburettor-fed 512 BB between 1976 and 1981, with later fuel-injected models known as the 512 BBi. This car, chassis 25773, left the factory on 13 October 1978, according to the records of marque historian Marcel Massini. Originally finished in Argento over Nero hide, it was delivered to official Ferrari importer Auto Becker of Düsseldorf, Germany and registered on 17 November.

Changed since to Rosso with black sills, it was acquired by the consigning owner in June 2023. They treated the Ferrari to an engine-out service in February 2024 at a cost of €20,512 (invoice available to view on file). That sum covered official Ferrari dealer Passione Sportiva of Pfaffing, Austria replacing the belts, hoses, overhauling the four carburettors, plus renewing the air conditioning system, and fitting four new Michelin XWX tyres. It should be noted that the speedometer was also changed at this point, and the unit read 18,170 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.
