To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Monterey event, 15 - 17 August 2024.

  • Superb level of preservation; a California car since new
  • Shows 10,535 miles at time of cataloguing
  • Cloaked in the ultimate Ferrari livery of Rosso Corsa over beige Connolly leather
  • Accompanied by a window sticker, service invoices, owner’s manuals, tools, jack, and spare
  • A wonderful example of the enduring automotive legend that is Ferrari’s famous, mid-engine, V-12 Testarossa

Unveiling its newest supercar at a nightclub was a bold move for Ferrari, but it could not have been more fitting on the evening before the 1984 Paris Motor Show. At the Lido nightclub on the Champs-Élysées, a select group of media and clients were afforded the chance to get a sneak peek of the new model just prior to its unveiling. The Lido was known for its flamboyance and overt style, and the choice of venue was instantly understood by all that first laid eyes on the new Testarossa.

Constructed in June 1990, this Testarossa was born in the quintessential Ferrari livery of Rosso Corsa over beige Connolly leather and supplied to its first owner via Ogner Motorcars of Woodland Hills, California. Now showing 10,535 miles at the time of cataloguing and residing in the care of what is believed to be just its third caretaker, the car shows all the hallmarks of having lived an exceedingly pampered life.

A host of accompanying service documents show regular maintenance by its first owner, who added a mere 5,000 miles during the car’s first 13 years before ceding possession to its second owner in 2003. That owner continued the meticulous care including a major engine-out service in 2021 consisting of timing belts, tensioners, seals, fluids, and clutch at a cost nearing $12,000. Since coming under the care of the consignor, a lifelong Ferrari tifoso who spares no expense in keeping his cars in top order, this Testarossa has received new tires, a fresh alignment, and an extensive electrical diagnostic including a newly rebuilt fuse panel at a cost of over $6,000. Reported to have remained in California all its life, the car is now offered with extensive service documentation, window sticker, owner’s manuals, tools, jack, and spare tire.

The Testarossa remains one of the most recognizable and beloved Ferrari models ever produced. It is an icon of 1980s styling and performance, and enthusiasts of all tastes should rejoice at the opportunity to acquire such a low mileage, era-defining Ferrari flagship. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/auctions/mo24/.
