Beschreibung

Debuting at the 1966 Torino Motor Show, the Maserati Ghibli was a V-8-powered grand touring car built to replace the Mistral. Penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro while working at Ghia, the fastback Ghibli moved Maserati’s design language forward, and its low, wide shape has since become iconic. Powered by a dry sump, 4.7-liter, quad-cam V-8, the Ghibli produces 310 hp and was rated at speeds of over 155 mph.

This handsome example was built in April 1968 and delivered to its first owner in Torino, Italy, on July 20, according to its Maserati Classiche certificate and factory build records on file. It was originally finished in Celeste Chiaro (Light Blue) over black leather and equipped with the desirable five-speed ZF manual gearbox. A previous description on file notes that the Ghibli was the subject of restoration work in the late 2000s by the Englewood, Colorado-based firm Classic Investments. Fitted with an engine from a slightly later Ghibli 4.7, this example has benefited from further service by Classic Investments and restoration work in current ownership, documented with over 80 pages of invoices on file, totaling approximately $170,000.

Now finished in dark blue with a red leather interior, the Ghibli makes a gorgeous presentation, showing off the minimalist lines of the stunning Giugiaro design. With its factory five-speed gearbox, extensive documentation, and attractive colors, this Ghibli is an appealing package for those looking for a stylish and capable 1960s GT.
