The second owner who kept the car for over 30 years was a close friend of the first. This Golf 16s Oettinger was vandalised during an attempted theft in 1988 when it had covered around 95 000 km. An invoice in the file tells us that the car was completely restored, for the cost of nearly 60 000 francs. The dashboard was changed and the odometer returned to zero at this time. " Magic ", the cylinder head was also one of the weak points of this outstanding GTI. In 1991, this car was fitted with a new Oettinger cylinder head (at approximately 108 000 km).
