The 550 Maranello captured the spirit of Ferrari’s vaunted configuration of a two-seater, front-engined V-12 Ferrari coupé while incorporating the latest modern technology. It offered world-beating performance, with a 5.5-litre engine producing 478 horsepower channelled through a six-speed manual gearbox. Allowing for 0 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 199 mph, it was further complemented by attractive Pininfarina styling.

Rolling off the Ferrari production line in early 2000, this Nero Daytona-finished 550 Maranello was upholstered with a Sabbia leather interior and delivered new on 22 March via the Italian dealer, Forza S.r.l., in Torino. In December 2000, the car was serviced having covered its first 10,000 kilometres. In August 2001, Forza S.r.l. carried out the yearly service. The service book notes that the 30,000 kilometre service was performed by Forza S.r.l. on 12 July 2004.

This 550 Maranello received its annual service at Ferrari Rossocorsa of Milan on 12 December 2005 at 32,700 kilometres. As per the previous Italian libretto, the second owner, residing in Castelvetrano, placed this Ferrari in his name on 18 April 2007. Two days later, he had Ferrari Rosso Monza complete the annual service at 39,700 kilometres. In May that year, the car went into his partners name, and the pair retained ownership of this 550 Maranello until June 2008. At this point it was sold to the Ferrari dealer, Rossocorsa.

The Ferrari concessionaires performed a service on 19 June 2008 (after around 45,000 kilometres) and sold the car to the third owner. During his ownership from 2008 to 2013, he had Rossocorsa complete the 50,000 kilometre service in April 2009, and the yearly service in April 2011 (at around 54,000 kilometres). Selling the car back to Rossocorsa in June 2013, it remained with the dealership for 12 months before it was acquired by the consigning owner in June 2014. Rossocorsa carried out a service that month with 58,300 kilometres on the clock. The car was fitted with a valved Tubi race-style exhaust, which the vendor felt was too loud, and had it replaced with a milder version from Tubi, that was better suited to a road car.

Exported to the United Kingdom and registered on 1 July 2014, the consigning owner has been more than meticulous with the servicing of this Ferrari. Having only had all major servicing done by Ferrari Rossocorsa and more recently SA.MO.CAR, Rome the consignor has spent more than £32,000 maintaining this 550 Maranello over the past decade. Of note, the suspension arms were stripped, painted, and fitted with all-new bushings, and all four tyres were replaced in September 2023 with Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber, with around 74,000 kilometres showing. In November 2023, a €3,300 annual service was undertaken by SA.MO.CAR in Rome. Importantly in August 2022, a major service—including the timing and auxiliary belts—was done by Rossacorsa at a cost €11,600; the timing belts are next due to be changed in August 2025.

Having had its Nero Daytona paintwork detailed and ceramic-coated in April 2024, this stunning Ferrari 550 Maranello also passed its UK MoT the preceding month. The odometer reads 75,681 kilometres (approx. 47,000 miles) at the time of cataloguing. Of note, the car has a special stitched leather parcel shelf, and is complemented by a car cover, its Ferrari leather folio with manuals, tool kit, and invoices from 2014 to 2024. It will be eligible to be exported to the United States in 2025, please speak to an RM Sotheby’s representative for further details.

A perfect driver’s car that has been maintained regardless of cost, this left-hand-drive Ferrari 550 Maranello would be an ideal purchase for a supercar enthusiasts seeking a grand tourer for European trips and holidays. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/auctions/ch24/.
