Phil Hill’s earliest racing experiences were attending midget car races, which were frequently held all over Los Angeles and the Southern California area. Working as a mechanic for a midget car racing team, he had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of one. These programs were saved by Hill during these exciting years of post-WWII racing in Los Angeles.
