Beschreibung
Surely this is one of the most unique cars we have ever had the pleasure of offering! The Volkswagen XL1, or the 1 liter car. In 2011, VW engineers came up with a car that was supposed to be able to drive 100 km on 1 liter of fuel. In 2014, this finally resulted in the XL1, and only 250 copies of this technical marvel were built. Every possible technology was used to make this achievement possible. The overall body was designed for minimal drag, it was made entirely of carbon which can be found throughout the car in untreated form. Magnesium and aluminum components were used for the chassis, and the side windows, for example, are plastic. Even the tires were specially developed and have extremely low rolling resistance.
For propulsion, a 2 cylinder diesel engine was chosen in combination with a 20 Kw electric motor. These were coupled to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. With this powertrain, the very low total weight of less than 800 kilos and the low air resistance allow very decent performance.
A total of only four were sold to the Netherlands, the sale was by tender. The chance that you can get your hands on one of these cars is therefore extremely small. Our example was delivered to the first Dutch owner in May 2015 by the Dutch VW importer and on behalf of this owner we may offer you this XL1. The car has always been maintained by PON and currently has only driven 5600 kilometers. The car is therefore still in mint condition, and comes complete with all documentation that came with the purchase. A rare opportunity like this only comes along once in a while, we would like to invite you to visit our showroom where we will gladly present you the XL1.
