Beschreibung
This stunning Deluxe Microbus was the subject of an exacting, nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration completed by the Volkswagen experts at ISP West of Carson, California, from 2016–2019. The Volkswagen was discovered in the high desert of Rialto, California, and purchased by the consignor in 2014. According to the consignor, shortly after he acquired the bus, a friend recognized it as once belonging to a high school acquaintance in Huntington Beach, establishing it as a long-term West Coast car and a great basis for restoration.
Originally a 13-window deluxe model, the consignor decided to upgrade the Volkswagen to the desirable 21-window sunroof specification. A special process was used to stamp in the new windows and sunroof to ensure the most exacting result. The bus was completely disassembled to bare metal and all panels were repaired and treated, the proper belly pans were installed, all panels were aligned for proper gaps, and all new glass was installed with the proper logos. The 1600 cc single-port engine was rebuilt and both the mechanical and electrical systems were attended to. The bus was finished in the gorgeous period-correct colors of Cumulus White (L680) over Sea Blue (L360) with Grey seats and interior trim. A tool roll in matching grey accompanies the sale as well as a proper radio delete plate.
The bus features the desirable optional front safari windows and, as a 1967 model, the Volkswagen benefits from the upgrades particular to that year, including 12-volt electrics and a dual master cylinder braking system. At the time of cataloguing, the Microbus had been driven just under 700 miles since the restoration and was serviced at ISP West during that time. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a desirable 1967 Deluxe Microbus restored with the utmost attention to detail.
