Beschreibung
Introduced in 1950, the Volkswagen Type 2 offered a variety of configurations for cargo space or passengers, and proved to be the perfect platform for personalization. The 23-window variant with pivoting split windshield seemed to feature more glass than metal, maximizing the airy, bright, light atmosphere of cool cruising.
According to its data plate, this Volkswagen Microbus was completed on March 19, 1962, destined for Los Angeles. It was finished in turquoise on the lower body with blue white on top, exactly as it presents today. It was specially built with the “walk through” configuration, which features a front bucket seat and corresponding short middle seat. Under current ownership, a rotisserie restoration was carried out by Alex Pegado’s respected ISP West of California and completed in 2016. It included a more powerful 1,600 cc engine, front disc brakes, a 12-volt alternator conversion, the addition of the sunroof, roof and corner windows, and Safari windshield panes. The interior is completed in Como Green and Phosphor by TMI Automotive Products, Inc. to original patterns, featuring an updated radio and convenient power ports. The Microbus continues to present beautifully in all respects, with very little mileage covered since restoration.
Whether you want to cruise the boardwalk, attend classic events with the family, or simply revisit your “Happy Days,” this Microbus has it all: cachet, nostalgia, style, aesthetics, and the practicality of the perfect cruising companion.
