Beschreibung

Chassis No. 0320301

Engine No. 3303676

Body No. 263 293

Over its 68-year lifespan, the original air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle came in many specifications, with the most prized examples being the early Type 1 car featuring the distinctive split oval rear window. A 1949 update introduced an export model with enhanced interior trim, chrome bumpers, and hydraulic brakes. In 1953, a key update simplified the rear window by replacing the split with a single oval, marking a significant distinction between the earlier "Split-Window" (known as Brezelkäfer in Germany) and the later models.

With a build date of November 1951, this sought-after late-production "Split-Window" De Luxe Sedan has recently been comprehensively restored. This work included refinishing the body in period-appropriate pastel green noted to have correct Sekurit branded glass throughout. Color-matched steel wheels with cream centers shod with Coker Classic whitewall tires complete the vintage exterior look. Only found on 1952 Type 1s, this car features additional fresh air vents on the front fenders. Located just behind the driver's door, the charming semaphores have been restored to their original condition. Inside, the interior has been completely renewed with seats in tan cloth and dark brown piping. The simple body-color dashboard features a metric speedometer and clock in the center, with two storage compartments on either side. The mechanics of the car were not overlooked during the restoration. The engine was upgraded with a 36 horsepower 1.2-liter unit, with a serial number indicating it was originally installed in a Beetle in November 1959 to increase power and drivability. Furthermore, the suspension, brakes, and electrical system all received restorative work as well.

Today, this charming 1952 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle De Luxe Sedan is offered with one kilometer, which is believed to be since the completion of the restoration at the time of cataloging. Since its humble beginnings in the United States 75 years ago, the Beetle has transitioned from basic transportation to a beloved cultural icon. This restored, early Split-Window Brezelkäfer is sure to delight whenever it takes to the road.
