A Dune or Beach Buggy is a recreational motor vehicle with large wheels and wide tyres, designed for use on beaches or the desert. Popularity peaked in the late 1960's and early 1970's with the Volkswagen Beetle, nicknamed 'Bug' (hence 'Buggy') which were most commonly used for the platform. Ideal because the rear engine layout improves traction, the air-cooled engine avoids the complexities and failure points associated with water-cooled units. Dune buggies generally came with fibreglass bodies. The original dune buggy was the 1964 Meyers Manx built by classic constructor, Bruce Meyers, using a Volkswagen Beetle chassis.

This fabulous Beach Buggy is finished in the great colour combination of black exterior with a black interior. The body is a predator kit which sits on a Type 1 chassis. Fitted with a 1776cc engine, that was built by John King from 'Beetle Crisis' fame, no stone was left unturned, gas-flowed heads, lightened and balanced crankshaft, new rods and pistons. To be expected, it offers brisk performance, particularly as it was manufactured as a fun off road car. The engine is encased by a nudgebar to avoid any mishaps and for added protection. The interior of this Volkswagen is eye-catching, from the diamond stitched seats to the aluminium dashboard and protected toggle switches. The dashboard has been tastefully styled and a rev counter sits on top of the steering column. Sitting proudly on Center Line polished wheels 17 inch at the rear, 16 at the front and with a white hardtop, this Beach Buggy really is a great looking example. Having been featured in Volks World magazine, it is easy to see why this Volkswagen creates such interest. It is supplied with a V5C registration document, together with some previous MoT test certificates and a number of receipts. Viewing in person is highly recommended, this car will certainly put a smile on your face. Consigned by Stewart Banks
