This rare Tatra is a four-cylinder Model 75 wearing the factory cabriolet style, a handsome design that looks like a scaled-down Mercedes-Benz or Horch. We understand the Late Owner travelled to his homeland of the Czech Republic after the collapse of the Soviet Empire in the 1990s and purchased a number of Tatras, including the 75 which needed a full rebuild.

Various photos on file document the car being delivered in ‘as found’ condition and the different stages of the rebuild – we understand much of the work was carried out by Dreamworks Vehicle Restorations of Wollongong and have been advised the engine was overhauled as part of the process. The finished car was back on the road by the early 2000s and has spent the last 20 years sitting in the owner’s collection, occasionally exercised or exhibited at local car shows.

Presenting as an older restoration, the Tatra has only 544 miles currently showing on the odometer, suggesting it has hardly been driven since completion. The duco is generally good aside from a couple of minor scrapes and some humidity blisters, while the interior upholstery and hood are in fine condition, with no damage evident. The chrome is very lightly tarnished in some areas. Like the other pre-war Tatras, the car has a general feel of high quality, including lovely period touches like the pearl steering wheel and clever folding pillars for the glass in the doors. A wonderful addition to any collection, the 75 Cabriolet is almost certainly the only example resident in Australia and would be welcome at just about any concours or car show around the country.

As with the other cars in the FM Collection, the Tatra will need some mechanical recommissioning after an extended period of storage and will be sold both unregistered and with No Reserve.
