FOR SALE; CTR2 Non Sport with Manual Gearbox and Exceptional Provenance
EXTERIOR
Welcome to the RUF CTR2 – an exclusive use of carbon / kevlar honeycomb that transforms weight and design to produce an evolutionary masterpiece. The bodywork is presented in Arctic Silver – sharp and consistent throughout with only a handful of stone chips to the lower front PU to report. Trims, fixtures and fittings are in excellent shape all round.
Identity is immediately recognised by the trio of vents in both front and rear bumpers; a prominent reminder of the air-cooled demands placed on this biturbo legend. Beyond its aerodynamic value, the CTR 2’s rear wing also serves as an air box with an integrated hollow inlet to feed the twin intercoolers.
INTERIOR
The traditional Marble Green interior defies the age and mileage of the car with the spectacular RUF Konig seats maintaining excellent colour and integrity. Once installed you are immediately met by the familiar 5 dial dash arrangement, treated to RUF font in Green, with the addition of a sixth gauge for boost just in front of the gear selector.
Leather throughout remains soft and supple, extending and stitched over the dash board and onto the door cards, whilst carpet is unmarked.
The CTR2 was setting new levels of performance and a number of factors led to the development of IRC, the acronym for Integrated Roll Cage, without which suspension calibration and safety would have been severely compromised.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Power comes from a race-derived version of Porsche’s air-cooled 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six, directly lifted from the Porsche 962 Le Mans Group C car. The engine explains the CTR mantle – Group C , T urbo R uf. More impressive is the balance of engineering that ensured the unit met the stringent US emissions standard.
During the car’s time in Norway, the owner and RUF dealer carried out the necessary in house modifications to upgrade to the recognised later spec 580hp. Whilst the car had the engine modifications carried out, it was decided to remove the EKS clutchless transmission and install a regular Manual gearbox.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The forged magnesium OZ wheels are a style signature of the RUF stable, proudly filling the arches wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport rubber.
Brakes have been upgraded to 993 GT2 Evo specification; quite literally immense in both scale and performance.
HISTORY FILE
Originally delivered to Spain the car would remain with the original owner until 2006; Imported and maintained solely by Carlos Kotnik – the country’s first Porsche dealer.
The car was then purchased at 11,000 kms by the RUF dealer in Norway; an employee of Porsche for 25 years and Curator of Porsche Classic Centre Son. It was while the car was with the dealer that the car received the appropriate factory engine upgrades. After 6 years in Norway the car would return to Spanish ownership and into one of the most esteemed private collections in Europe.
