Beschreibung

The Wraith was the final Derby-built, small-horsepower Rolls-Royce, incorporating numerous mechanical improvements that contributed to a more pleasurable driving experience. Fitted to chassis WMB 39 was Freestone & Webb’s touring limousine coachwork (design no. 1998), one of three Wraiths so equipped.

Stateside by 1969, WMB 39 enjoyed ownership by Rolls-Royce historian and author Raymond Gentile, and was acquired by Scott Isquick in 1975. Following restoration between 1977 and 1983, it garnered a First Place class award at the 1985 RROC annual meeting, and scored 99 points at a 1987 CCCA Grand Classic. Its roadworthiness was demonstrated on numerous RROC tours from the late 1980s until 2008 and still presented well when shown at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

The stately coachwork features rear-hinged doors, a Perspex sunroof over the rear seat, and a distinctive chrome beltline molding separating the black and Primrose Yellow paint work. The interior is finished in light tan leather with beautiful woodwork lavished on the dashboard, doors, and chauffeur’s division, which features an electric window lift.

Benefiting from RROC ownership for nearly 60 years, extensive records and receipts document the proper care it has enjoyed. This rare example promises endless touring and show opportunities.
