Beschreibung
The new prize of a Corniche Drophead in the early 80s stood at a heady 250’000 Swiss Francs. For this princely sum the buyer received one of the most noble dropheads of its day. Equipped with a 6.75 litre V8 engine, automatic gearbox, power steering, air conditioning, Connolly leather, electrically operated windows and the most elaborately made soft top in history the noble thoroughbred therefore boasted just about every conceivable luxury accessory thinkable. This lovely example, built in 1981, was first registered on the 17th of April 1982 through Royal Motors in Cologne, Germany. The lady owner took her cabriolet with her to Marbella and in 1986, with then around 41’000 kilometres driven, moved the car to Switzerland. In June 1989, with 50,000 kilometres indicated, the Rolls-Royce was taken over by another lady from Ascona and taken to its new home in sunny Ticino. In 2012, shortly before taken over by the vendor in May 2013, the Corniche was repainted. Since then, the stunning and ever so elegant drophead was enthusiastically driven while enjoying thorough and regular maintenance. The a/c compressor has been replaced and, in 2023, the rear axle and the suspensions received an overhaul. With three owners, roughly 116’000 kilometres driven and with its service booklet, the Rolls-Royce is in very good and well-maintained overall condition. The original leather interior shows a light age-correct patina. The last Veteran MOT was completed in July 2020 allowing the noble drophead to be registered and enjoyed in most cantons immediately.
