During the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s Porsche, through their subsidiary Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH, produced tractors with diesel engines at their factory on lake Constance. They had a reputation of being very reliable and offered excellent value for money. In 1963 the tractor sector was sold to Renault and from then on only passenger cars were built. The example offered here is a very rare “narrow track” version of the then most popular Porsche diesel tractor, mainly used in wineries and vegetable farming. The S218 was restored some years ago in Holland and imported into Switzerland in mid-2014. Currently this “Red Nose” as those Porsche tractors are affectionately known, is in very good condition and will be sold to a new enthusiast with the last Veteran MOT completed in September 2014.
