The 928 was born out of the desire of Porsche's managers at the time, and in particular Ernst Fuhrmann, the creator of the twin-shaft 4-cylinder flat-cylinder Porsche 550 and 718, to get out of the 911 monoculture, which they believed had no future in the architecture of the rear overhang engine. Thus, the brand opted for the concept of a GT with a water-cooled front engine and launched the project in 1971. As soon as it was released in the autumn of 1977, the 928, the first Porsche powered by a V8 engine (which is the standard in the American market), established itself as the new Grand Tourisme reference and even won the coveted title of European car of the year in 1978. Also, very quickly, the range will evolve towards more power and more equipment up to the 928 GTS, which offers a comfortable, efficient and sporty compromise that is rarely equalled... The Porsche 928 GTS does not replace the Porsche 911, but brings a different perspective to the sports car.
The model we present is exceptional in many ways. Of blue color (Metallic blue) and especially equipped with the manual gearbox, it was delivered by the Porsche Philippe SA dealer in Villeneuve d'Ascq on July 9, 1992 to its first owner. It was regularly maintained as attested by its maintenance logbook stamped by the specialist Alfort Sport Garage at Maison-Alfort and then by the VAM Garage at Saint-Maur en Seine et Marne. In the hands of a Porsche collector who has long dreamed of having a 928 GTS in his collection, its operation is beyond reproach. If the interior looks like new with blue leather seats, matching carpets and a centre console in perfect condition, so do the various body parts, perfectly aligned and looking as if they were originally painted. The only small defect is a small corrosion point to be found under the right rear custode. At 126,000 km, the car has just been overhauled and will of course be accompanied by its maintenance booklet, user manual, instructions for use of the original car radio and numerous invoices and roadworthiness tests dating back to 2002. According to the Porsche Club 928 France, only 60 Porsche 928 GTSs were delivered to France in 1992. There is no doubt that our model with its clear history is one of the most beautiful examples on the market today.
