Beschreibung
Built between 1969 and 1972, the Porsche 914/6 added significant performance to Porsche’s entry-level sports car. In place of the flat-four, Porsche installed a flat six-cylinder engine from the 911 T, increasing power from 79 hp to 110. Porsche also fitted the 914/6 with improved brakes, five-lug wheels, and an ignition key on the left of the steering wheel – just like what was found in the 911.
An original US-delivery 1970 Porsche 914/6, this example was acquired by the consignor in 2015 and sent to Classic Investments in Englewood, Colorado, for an extensive restoration. The Porsche was repainted in the spectacular period color of Ravenna Green and fitted with Pepita cloth-insert upholstery. With invoices totaling over $300,000 on file, the 914 remains in stunning condition with performance to match and has had paint protection film applied.
The engine is a three-liter unit from a 911 SC built by Rennsport of Metairie, Louisiana, at a cost of over $30,000 and fitted with 98 mm Carrillo pistons and Mahle cylinders, bringing its displacement to around 3.2 liters. It features Elgin 964-specification camshafts, SSI heat exchangers, and PMO carburetors, among other upgrades, roughly doubling the power of the stock 914/6 engine. Equipped with a 915 five-speed gearbox, this stunning 914/6 was restored to be driven, providing the ideal combination of a factory presentation with exciting underpinnings.
