Beschreibung

Type of body: Targa
Registration number: 16-YE-72

Did you know that the Porsche 911 was originally going to be called the Porsche 901? When Porsche introduced this model in 1963, they chose the name 901. However, Peugeot claimed the rights to all three-digit names with a '0' in the middle, forcing Porsche to change the name. Thus, the legendary Porsche 911 was born.

The 911 range was expanded in 1965 with the 911 Targa. The already successful 911 soared even further in popularity. Inspired by their consecutive victories at the Targa Florio road race in Sicily, Porsche decided to name this open variant the 911 Targa. The Porsche 911 Targa was equipped with a roll bar frame for extra safety and a roof that could be removed in two parts. This model quickly became very popular among 911 buyers due to the delightful driving experience, the open-top feeling like a convertible, while simultaneously providing safety without significant compromises to the 911’s characteristics. Note that in those years, the torsional stiffness of a convertible was not as we know it today. Fortunately, with a Targa, this was irrelevant. The 1973 model year marked the end of production for the classic long-hood Porsche 911. New legislation in the United States required the installation of sturdier impact bumpers, leading to the introduction of the G-body 911. Prior to this development, Porsche introduced various updates to their iconic sports car, including mechanical fuel injection on the 911 E and 911 S models, the H-pattern gearbox, and the 2.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine (a fantastic engine, by the way).

This Porsche 911 Targa commands a lot of admiration in our showroom. Just look at the color! So fresh, very retro, and incredibly sought-after in this color combination today. It goes without saying that we find this color magical. The combination of Signal Orange with pepita upholstery is how we would have ordered this Porsche in 1973.

This Porsche is a matching numbers example and in a restored and overhauled condition, completely to factory specifications. This makes this 911 Targa an exceptionally beautiful and desirable Porsche. The restoration was done bare metal and the restoration work has been meticulously documented and are included with this Porsche. Additionally, we provide the original booklets with this car, including maintenance records. This 911 Targa will also be delivered with the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The exterior of this Porsche is in excellent condition. The body color, Signal Orange, is very beautiful. Both the rubber parts, chrome work, glass work, and the beautiful Fuchs wheels all look very nice, as you would expect after restoration work. The interior is also in excellent shape. The beautiful seats with pepita upholstery look like new and the interior details are simply correct. It is also a joy to spend time behind the wheel of this 911. Driving this example is a pleasure. The engine starts quickly and runs remarkably smoothly, with a particularly fine idle and a beautiful sound. The unique sound of the air-cooled engine is immediately recognizable, and we are impressed with this engine. The overhaul work has a very positive effect on the driving experience; this Porsche drives exceptionally tight and gives a solid feeling throughout the entire car.

This beautiful orange Porsche creates a fresh and lively look in our showroom, giving visitors a warm feeling towards the 70s. This is your opportunity to become the owner of a fantastic Porsche in this desirable color scheme and in very good condition. Are you interested? Contact us today, we are happy to assist you.
