The original Porsche 911 was introduced in Autumn 1963 and manufactured until 1989. It was succeeded by a modified version, internally referred to as Porsche 964, but still sold as Porsche 911, as are current models. Mechanically, the 911 was notable for being rear-engined and air-cooled and, from its inception, the 911 was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of competition. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911-derived 935 which won the 24 Hours du Mans and other major sports cars races outright. For 1970 the engines of all 911s were increased to 2,195 cc. Power outputs were uprated to 123 bhp in the 911T and the 912 was discontinued, with the 914 taking its place as Porsche's entry model.

This stunning example of the 1970 2.2 litre 911 T was first registered in Puerto Rico to a wealthy businessman in Sepia Brown with Basket weave Leatherette trim. Original documents obtained by our vendor from Porsche Germany include the build sheet confirming the car is a matching numbers example. Our Vendor purchased the car and then subsequently in 2017 imported the vehicle with the sole reason to fully restore the car to his personalised specification for touring in Europe. Upon arriving in the UK, he registered the car and commissioned the skills of a well-known local specialist to begin the restoration program. Rotisserie restored and over a three-year period at an extensive cost, this car was stripped fully and built ground up with money no object plan to his personal requirements. The decision was made early on to change from the Sepia Brown to a more modern and contemporary silver with a tan leather retrim to the seats and door cards. Sadly, upon completion the car COVID hit and the plans to tour the car swiftly had to be shelfed, a handful of UK drives and car shows followed but with just 495 miles on the clock and an engine just 'run in' our vendor decided to pass the car onto its next custodian with his European tour dreams behind him. The history file contains the UK V5, copy of the email and document from from Porsche GB with the original build numbers, import documents and history relating to the restoration. An example that allows you to skip the two-three-year restoration process and buy a car barely run in this is a lovely example of the German icon that is a period 911. Consigned by Mathew Priddy
