To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Paris event, 4 - 5 February 2025.

  • Believed to be one of just 729 examples of the C-series 911 S 2.2 Targa produced
  • Built by the factory in the desirable exterior colour of Light Ivory
  • Presented in charming condition with a genuine patina
  • Retains its matching-numbers 2.2-litre flat-six engine, factory-rated to deliver 180 horsepower
  • Delivered new to Belgium; acquired by The Curated Collection in September 2014

At a time when a ban on true convertibles seemed a real possibility, Porsche moved to introduce a new style of open-top 911 that incorporated a roll bar to conform with safety legislation in the United States. With a model name derived from the famed Targa Florio endurance road race, in more desirable and potent “S” form the early Targa was powered by a 2.2-litre flat-six engine that produced 180 horsepower via a five-speed manual gearbox.

The 1970 model year example offered here was delivered new via the official Porsche importer for Brussels, D’Ieteren Freres, in November 1969, finished in Light Ivory. While its complete history is not known, service stamps indicate that this car was maintained on the outskirts of Antwerp during the middle of the 1980s. The Targa then joined The Curated Collection in September 2014, having been sold via Porsche specialist August SA based in Ohain on the French border. Accompanied by a tool roll, spare wheel, plus its owner’s guides, this charming 911 S 2.2 Targa would make a wonderful driver for the summer.
