Beschreibung
Since its debut over 60 years ago, each version of the incredible Porsche 911 has, in its own way, updated the very definition of the sports car with ever-evolving style and capabilities. The earliest, and many believe most pure 911, was the 2.0 liter, which first appeared in 1964. The example offered here, chassis 303708, was built in early 1966, and was sold new to Dr. Robert Fisher of Sharon, Connecticut, via Pray Porsche of Greenwich. It was finished as today in slate gray with a red interior, according to a copy of its Kardex. It is accompanied by an impressive file of records dating back to 1971, when the car was noted to show 30,000 miles.
This striking 911 has been a favorite in its current caretaker’s collection since his acquisition circa 2006, and he soon set about an exacting, multiyear exterior restoration performed by Paterek Brothers Inc. of Chatham, New Jersey. In 2015, the engine received a substantial overhaul and additional tuning of the factory Solex carburetors. Because the 911 is one of the more active cars in his collection, the owner has continued to refine its road manners and state of tune, while endeavoring to maintain as much of the car’s originality as possible. He states that the Porsche’s interior is substantially original, which greatly contributes to the period-driving experience that it provides. Unbeatable in style and period performance, and offered with its owner’s manual, tool roll, and Pray Porsche license plate frame, this cherished, early 911 showed just 64,000 miles when catalogued and is poised to impress devotees of the marque.
