Among the best looking and most desirable of Porsche models, this 993 Carrera S is ideally specified and a great example of the final year air-cooled 911.
The original production decal, which remains on the underside of the hood, confirms the car was built as an Arctic Silver with black interior car, equipped with catalytic converter, stainless steel door entry guards with logo, aluminum shift knob, aluminum parking brake lever, engine sound package, locking differential 40 % and automatic limited slip differential, N2 tires (Bridgestone or Pirelli), 18" Technology wheels (lightweight hollow spoke), 8-way electrical seat left, wheel caps Arctic Silver with colored Porsche crest, automatic speed control, sun-moon-roof, CD-radio Becker Porsche CDR-210 USA and lastly, “09991 Manufacture from the exclusive-programme.”
Delivered new in New Jersey, the car saw limited use with its first owner, showing just 4,202 miles when sold to its second owner in late 2001. It was purchased as a gift for Fortune Ato by his wife, and when they relocated to the Seattle area they brought the Porsche with them. Ato put roughly 34,000 miles on the car through 2006 before the relocation to Washington state when a new title was issued. I purchased the car from him in late 2015 with just under 60,000 mile on the odometer. Several years ago, the car was sold to a good friend, before I bought it back more recently.
Displaying just under 65,000 miles from new, the 933 remains highly original throughout. While the front bumper and hood have minor stone chips and brush touch ups, the car appears to be entirely original paint. The interior is very nice and original as well, and remains unchanged with exception of a bluetooth radio upgrade - the original radio remains with the car. The 993 has been minimally used over the past decade and has seen regular maintenance.
The car is complete with a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, the full owner’s manual set, toolkit and roadside items. The 993 is also currently registered in California, having passed a recent SMOG test and has a clean Carfax report.
One would be hard pressed to find a nicer, more iconic example of the final year, air-cooled 911. The Porsche is perfectly specified with all the desirable mechanical features as listed above and is finished in the iconic and subtle in Arctic Silver with black leather. More importantly, in my opinion, it’s void of the more frivolous cosmetic options available at the time. And while the mileage isn’t exceedingly low, the current odometer reading means the car can be used as intended without fear of it rolling over into the 6-digits anytime soon.
