Chassis No. WP0CB2962RS460160

The long-awaited successor to the "G-Series" Porsche 911 debuted in 1989 wearing form-fitting body-color bumpers and introducing all-wheel drive in Carrera 4 form. Once overlooked in the collector market for its familiar shape, the Type 964 911 is now properly recognized as a significant development of the air-cooled, rear-engined platform which would come to an end with the succeeding 993-generation just a few years later. The 3.6-liter flat-six's smooth and steady power delivery was widely considered to be more predictable than its predecessor, producing 247 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque.

By 1990 the new 911 was widely available in Coupe, Targa, or Cabriolet body styles, with the rear-wheel drive Carrera 2 cited by reviewers as the more engaging version of the 964, as it lacked the Carrera 4's heavier four-wheel-drive system. All models were equipped with standard anti-lock brakes, dual front airbags, a dual-mass flywheel, and variable-assist power steering, adding to the improved refinement of the new 911. Today, the 964 is coveted for its refined ride and handling, thanks to coil springs and shocks at the rear, as well as its enhanced cabin comforts, including height-adjustable leather seats and a full-length center console.

This 1994 Carrera 2 Cabriolet was destined for the U.S.-market, specified new in very desirable black-over-black with a five-speed gearbox. Further adding to the car's desirability, it was fitted new with optional 17 inch alloy Cup wheels, traction control, and "X-Code" Porsche-crested rim caps through Exclusive. The original specification also included a number of U.S.-market specific modifications, from the specific climate control and English script to the anti-theft system and electric seats, all of which is detailed in the car's file. The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report on file clearly indicates the car's original delivery to Missouri, where it stayed through 2022, accumulating less than 30,000 miles in that time with extensive reporting of service work conducted over the years. Thereafter the car was briefly exported to Canada and has since returned to the Midwest, now still only showing about 30,162 miles at the time of cataloging, well presented with a number of desirable features, including the PCCM upgrade (Porsche Classic Communication Management System).. The car continues to present very nicely, well optioned and in highly desirable colors.
