Launched in 1907, the Packard Model 30 replaced the outgoing Model S and improved upon its predecessor by employing a combination of increased engine displacement and larger valves, allowing the 432 cid, four-cylinder T-head engine to propel the Model 30 to an exhilarating 60 mph.

This Model 30 Seven-Passenger Touring was sold new to Judge George Long of Louisville, Kentucky, later passing to his son, George Jr. The Long family would retain the Packard for the next 79 years, before selling the Model 30 to early American car collector Ross Bewley of Stockton, California, in 1989. The Packard remained in Mr. Bewley’s collection for the next decade, eventually being acquired by collector Rick Rawlins, who in turn sold the Model 30 in 2004, when it joined William Alley’s esteemed collection of Packards and other Brass and Classic Era automobiles.

In a history record on file, Packard luminary John Grundy describes this Model 30 as “the most original car I’ve seen.” The Seven-Passenger Touring’s paint was removed in 1950 for unknown reasons, and appropriate-looking paint was applied, which matches the original finishes on the rest of the car in a satisfying manner.
