Beschreibung

  • A restyled example of the technologically advanced and successful Opel Olympia
  • Features reportedly unique two-seater roadster coachwork by Gläser-Karosserie
  • Presented in an ivory hue with a matching fascia and burgundy upholstery
  • An attractive and accessible route into pre-war open-air motoring

Featuring two-seater roadster styling, the car offered here is believed to be based on the successful Opel Olympia OL38. While its true origins are not definitively known, this 1940 example is thought to have gained unique coachwork in Dresden by Gläser-Karosserie, best known for its luxurious convertible Mercedes-Benz, Horch, and Maybach designs, plus later work on the Porsche 356.

Recorded as having been first registered on 1 July 1940, the car’s frame is stamped 1010500, while the chassis plate notes an OL38 model type fitted with an Olympia-specification 1,488-cc four-cylinder engine.

Purchased by The Aumann Collection in June 2014 from Lviv in western Ukraine, the roadster was imported the following month to Germany before receiving restoration work. This included a recommissioning of the engine and braking system by Medidenta Schramm of Oberursel in work totalling €5,065.

Smartly presented in an ivory hue over burgundy upholstery, this Opel is sure to delight its next owner with many miles of open-air motoring.
