A passport to the elite

Directly derived from the LMP1, this LMP2 allowed a team of gentlemen drivers to experience the unique sensations of an endurance prototype custom-built for the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Designed for private teams with a modest budget, the LMP2 category is a springboard to the premier discipline of endurance racing. Jacques Nicolet was quick to identify the potential market that this category represents for a manufacturer. As early as 2008, he encouraged Henri Pescarolo to go down this route. He even took over this activity in 2009 after acquiring the intellectual rights to the LMP2 chassis derived from the Pescarolo LMP1.

The third place in the LMP2 class acquired at the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours by the Pescarolo LMP2 entered by Oak Racing and driven by the young Matthieu Lahaye, Guillaume Moreau and Karim Ajlani is a great encouragement. Jacques Nicolet set up his own design office in 2010 to develop this activity, knowing that potential customers are more numerous in LMP2 than in LMP1.
Chassis n°13 on sale today was produced in 2011. Wearing the mythical Gulf Racing blue and orange livery, it was entered that season by the Oak Racing team for a crew of gentlemen drivers made up of Frédéric Da Rocha, Patrice Lafargue, assisted by either Jean-François Yvon or Andréa Barlesi.

Due to the change in technical regulations that season, this chassis benefits from several modifications compared to the previous season's model. It has a new engine cover, a suspended rear wing and specific rear brake cooling inlets. As the regulations require series-derived engines, this chassis is powered by a Judd HK V8, extrapolated from a mass-produced BMW engine.

As the World Endurance Championship had not yet been recreated (it would be the following year), the crew wearing race number 35 competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans that season as well as the other rounds of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) in which the Oak Racing team scored three podium finishes and a second place overall in the class.

The chassis has been fully restored and refurbished. It is eligible for the Master Endurance Legends USA, Aston Martin Masters Endurance Europe and the Global Endurance Legends, including the opening race of the Le Mans 24 Hours.
