Beschreibung
The Mosler MT900 is a sports car that was built in the United States and the United Kingdom by Mosler Automotive. Named the MT900, the M stands for Mosler, the manufacturer; T refers to Rod Trenne who designed it and 900 was the target weight for this car. The MT900 used a carbon-fibre chassis with a mid-mounted LS6 V8 engine, powering the rear wheels. Power output is 350 HP, with 470 Nm torque. A ZF transaxle, designed for Porsche, was mounted upside down to allow the engine to sit in front of the rear axle. The original MT900 weighed 1,175 kg, much more than the target weight, but could still accelerate to 97 km/h in 3.5 seconds according to Car and Driver (an American automotive magazine). The MT900 they tested could also do a 12.0 second quarter mile at 190 km/h, and they recorded a top speed of 240 km/h, limited by the redline. The car had a somewhat plain exterior designed for aerodynamics, with a low 0.25 coefficient of drag. It's list price was USD 164,000. Saes were certainly slow, and only a single prototype was produced.
