*FOR SALE* MITSUBISHI EVO VI TME // TOMMI MAKINEN EDITION // UK CAR // 10K MILES // TIMEWARP CONDITION
EQUIPMENT
UK RHD, White Enkei 17inch alloys, Tommi Makinen Edition Recaro seats, Leather Momo steering wheel and shift knob, 4WD with Centre Coupling unit and Active Yaw control, Front upper strut brace, Factory 10mm lowered suspension, RS steering rack, VDO CD stereo, Auto Climate control
EXTERIOR
If any car could typify World Rally Championship cars at the turn of the century, the Evo VI Tommy Makinen is most certainly it. The addition of shock-and-awe aerodynamic enhancements elevate the plain and boxy Lancer saloon into a steroidal road-and-rally-stage weapon. The TME bought in many important changes including a new front bumper with an asymmetric design, eschewing fog lights to allow for larger cooling ducts – not only aiding cooling but also aerodynamics. The rear spoiler shared the additional extra aero-element of the Evo VI, creating a bi-plane design compensating for new WRC regulations which decreased the size and effectiveness of aerodynamic enhancements.
With such championship winning heritage, fortunately this example appears to have never seen a rally stage. The bodywork presents beautifully with very few, if any stone chips, and consistent original paint and panels throughout – age defying and quite superb.
INTERIOR
Upon opening the door of the TME you are greeted by high-backed Recaro seats with the model designation stitched into the backrest; one is in no doubt as to how special this car is. The interior space is exceptionally clean with little to distract you from the driving experience – this is clearly a place of work to focus the driver with the seats offering excellent support and adjustability. Momo provide the steering wheel and gear knob – all contact patches are well thought out and of high quality.
With such careful use and low mileage the cabin space is in truly time warp condition.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Already an incredibly potent engine the TME would benefit from a titanium turbo to further enhance low and mid range pull. In keeping with the rest of the car the engine bay is incredibly clean with belts, plugs and water pump replaced just a handful of miles ago.
The drivetrain is slick and intuitive – even more so with the presence of Active Yaw Control in the rear axle ensuring the car is as lively and involving as you’d find in any road car.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Wheels are provided by Enkei – famed for their motorsport pedigree – and are finished in their original white paint from factory as seen from the original wheel weights. Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s adorn each corner and are as new.
The Brembo braking system is a formidable match for the performance available.
This right-hand drive UK-delivered example was registered new in January 2001 to Mitsubishi Cirencester. Covering nearly all of its miles by its first owner before exchanging hands in 2006 and 2007. Since change of ownership, it had been kept in storage inside a protective ‘Carcoon’ from mid-2007 until the end of 2021 by its current owner.
This Evo VI TME’s most recent maintenance was carried out in March 2022 at 10,331 miles by the technicians at Appreciating Classics, which consisted of a full recommissioning service including all new belts, a new water pump, oil and filter, and four new tyres. The exemplary service records in the Ralliart booklet are as follows:
01/06/2001 - 629 miles - Mitsubishi Ashley Smithy

14/12/2006 - 9,448 miles - Mitsubishi Bristol
10/03/2022 - 10,331 miles - Appreciating Classics (Belts & Water pump)
The car comes complete with all invoicing and paperwork from new as well as the owners pack and original sales invoice. A really special example of the 'Playstation generation' rally car.
