Launched in 1959 by the British Motor Corporation, the Mini is a milestone in the history of car design and an icon of swinging sixties society. Elegant, agile and as much at ease in town traffic as in more sporting conditions, this revolutionary car, offering economy motoring by the standards of the day, has delighted successive generations of drivers. Our Mini was first registered in March 1999 and is a Mk VII version, produced from 1996 until 2000. This is the last generation of the original Mini as conceived by Alec Issigonis. The Cooper model, the fastest version of the Mini, has a 1275 cc, multi-point injection engine putting out 62 bhp and carries the Sportspack equipment pack. Having been fully repainted in 2016, this vehicle looks fresher and younger than its 136 000 kms would lead you to expect. The black leather upholstery marries well with the wood veneered dashboard and the white faced instruments. The 13 inch alloy wheels are fitted with new tyres and there are a pair of additional headlights, the original wheel-arch extensions and an electrically operated fabric sunroof.
In 2017, the specialist Mini BMC carried out substantial mechanical work, including a complete overhaul of the engine and rebuilding the gearbox, clutch, front suspension and steering. This very exclusive Mini is ready to take its new owner near or far, as he wishes.
