A Modern and Usable Classic. Highly Desirable Imola Grey Example. A California Car with Excellent Service Documentation and a Beautiful Cosmetic Presentation.2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGVIN: WDDRJ7HA8BA001717AMG Imola Grey with Classic Red/Black Leather Considered one of the finest contemporary performance cars ever offered for road use, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is an unforgettable tour de force of engineering and design. Anyone who has driven one or spent time studying the sophisticated technology of these cars will come away with the only viable conclusion; they are magnificent in every respect. Much of the design was inspired by the front mid-bias platform offered in the legendary classic 300SL Gullwing, inspiring the name Super Leight Sport or Super Light Sport. But the SLS is also unique as it is the first of the highly desired AMG cars designed and built entirely from scratch by AMG. Having been under development for many years, the SLS achieved its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Arriving to raved reviews, the monstrously powerful yet fluidly capable 583 hp V8 engine was billed as the “World’s most powerful naturally aspirated production series engine” ever produced. And while the engine was significant in its own right, it was just one component of a vast array of phenomenal features and amenities that made up this remarkable car. Designed by Mark Fetherston with features inspired by the classic 300SL Gullwing, the SLS AMG offered a commanding visual presence consistent with the rich racing and performance history of these legendary cars. Outfitted with a vast array of standard comfort features blended into a sophisticated drivetrain with advanced suspension and braking, the SLS AMG received numerous design awards and distinctions upon release. Assembled essentially by hand, the aluminum chassis and body were produced by Magna Steyr, Austria, and each car was individually prepared and outfitted per customer order including each engine, assembled by hand at AMG in Affalterbach, Germany. Offered initially for the European markets, the SLS AMG became officially available for US delivery mid-year 2011, making the 2011 models among the most sought after as the first of their kind to be available on US soil. The heartbeat of this astonishing car is the AMG M159 engine. Beginning with an M156 series block, the AMG team developed over 120 engine modifications including a lightweight specially flow-ported magnesium intake, forged pistons, optimized exit-flow tubular headers, and a dry sump oil system, which allows for better oiling under intense cornering conditions and a lower center of gravity for the engine when mounted into the engine compartment. An AMG Dual Clutch Semi-Automatic transmission utilizes a lightweight carbon fiber driveshaft with selectable driving modes including a manual shift mode via easy access steering wheel paddles. Enormous race-bred four-wheel disc anti-lock braking is managed with 6-piston aluminum front calipers and 4-piston aluminum rear calipers, which offer amazing braking even under repeated applications experienced during peak performance use. Each of these hand-crafted cars were individually tested prior to delivery to ensure superlative performance for Mercedes-Benz top clientele. When released to the automotive press, the engineering and dedicated AMG performance efforts revealed jaw-dropping 0-60 mph times of 3.8 seconds and quarter mile times of 11.7 seconds at 125 mph, well into supercar territory, besting many top contenders of the period. All SLS AMGs were equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems including an SLS exclusive 3-Stage Electronic Stability Program coupled to a unique rollover door-bolt ejection system allowing the doors to be separated from the car, facilitating safe exit of both passengers in the event of rollover. In addition to the lightweight material construction and superlative engineering, all cars were outfitted with the AMG limited slip differential, forged dual wishbone suspension, Xenon headlamps, eight protective interior airbags, and a rearview camera.Standard equipment and interior amenities continued throughout the car including Parktronic, auto dimming and folding mirrors, dual zone climate control, heated power seats, iPod/MP3 Media Interface, and Enhanced Voice Control System, to name a few of the many comfort and convenience features offered on the car. The combined elegance, superlative performance, and landmark design made the SLS AMG the pinnacle of Mercedes Benz performance, not just as a spectacular performance car, but one that would be equally suited for vigorous high-speed jaunts at record times, or just as capable under leisurely elegant road touring. Now nearly a decade later since their US debut, the SLS AMG still boasts performance metrics that complete handily against a litany of premier performance cars attempting to achieve this status. Astute collectors and enthusiasts continue to laud the value of these cars as modern performance offerings combining classic style and fantastic road manners. This particularly stunning example was assembled May 31, 2010 and delivered July 20, 2010 to a Dallas, Texas Mercedes-Benz dealer. On August 17, 2010 the car is logged into inventory with 55 miles and remains in their inventory through December 2011 when it is sold with 1,760 miles to the first private owner, professional football cornerback Eric Wright. Wright purchases the car concurrent with signing a five-year $37.5 million-dollar contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to the September 2020 Carfax, miles accumulated slowly throughout 2013 at which time Wright was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. On February 22, 2013, the current consigning owner purchases the car with 4,515 miles recorded on the Carfax. Subsequent miles accumulated over the past seven years are documented with copious service records tending to every aspect of the car, having been serviced by qualified Mercedes-Benz professionals, all of which have been performed in California where the car has remained since 2012. This SLS AMG is finished in the stunning exterior extra-cost option Imola Grey, and further optioned with the Classic Red/Black “Designo” Exclusive Leather. In addition to the recent Carfax, the car is accompanied by copies of extensive service records including various safety and emissions inspections for California registration. Service records from 2013 show detailed services including the installation of brake line spacers, protective brake hose line retrofits, various minor adjustments performed under warranty including the installation of two new horns, and replacement of a front right-side engine mount. Additional services performed include a brake fluid flush, four-wheel balance, new tire pressure sensors, and oil change at 5,000 miles. In 2014 a 10,000 mile service was performed with 9,762 miles at Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco. Also, at this time both front wheel rim edges were professionally repaired and balanced after the owner reported light cosmetic damage. In August 2019 with approximately 21,000 miles showing, an open recall campaign service was performed replacing driver and passenger side airbags, oil change and brake fluid flush, four-wheel alignment, two new front tires installed, and a new battery installed. Today this exceptional SLS AMG presents beautifully with the original Imola Grey paint delivering a deep, lustrous finish. This finish has a wonderful hue which gives the car a dynamic visual presence, particularly as contrasted over the stunning red/black leather interior. All glass, clear front and rear lenses, and exterior body trim are in excellent cosmetic condition. The paint is in excellent condition throughout with no notable flaws, other than typical minor lower edge scuff marks on the leading underside of the plastic portion of the front air dam. All openings function as new, with excellent closure and proper panel gaps. The doors open with an elegant upward swinging motion, allowing occupants easy entrance and exit given the substantial protective entry sills. There are no chips or scratches in the gorgeous expansive windshield, rear, or side glass. The wheels and tires are in excellent condition as well with no curb rash and high gloss to the wheel surfaces. Inside the car, the supple, factory fresh two-tone leather interior exhibits near new finishes throughout showing just minor evidence of use to the driver’s seat cushion. All interior components have been beautifully maintained including smooth and supple leather trimmed seats, sculpted dash, and console materials, all of which form a beautifully cohesive cockpit with modern amenities and state of the art technology. The seats are not only visually stunning, they are comfortable and perfectly balanced for a range of driving conditions. The optional Leather and Alcantara steering wheel is backed by selective paddle switchgear levers and surfaced with fingertip access controls. The iconic gullwing doors open smoothly and easily, making something as mundane as curbside entry and exit a memorable experience even for onlookers. The trunk compartment further continues the exemplary presentation of this essentially new car with factory finishes and amenities included from the factory. Under the hood, the stout and visually stunning 6.3 Liter hand-built AMG performance engine has been meticulously maintained both mechanically and cosmetically, further supporting the original miles shown on the odometer. Factory components, manufacturers engine compartment labels, and hardware still remain as new. The undercarriage of the car furth
