The Mercedes McLaren SLR was the last version of the McLaren Mercedes cooperation project that ended in 2009 with the Stirling Moss edition. Named after the British racing driver Stirling Moss and introduced at the North American Auto Show in 2009. The car was only offered to existing SLR owners and only 75 cars were made. The list price was around USD 1 million.
Meant to be a tribute to Mercedes` Mille Miglia win in 1955 where Stirling Moss won in the mythical 300 SLR and the styling of the SLR Stirling Moss edition takes many cues from the original SLR including small separate windscreens in front of the driver and passengers, headrests behind the driving compartments, small gullwing doors folding to the front, carbon fibre tonneau covers to close the car.
Technically it is uprated from the 722 SLR and the body is all carbon fibre and it weighs 200 kg less than the standard SLR due to the carbon fibre body and speedster styling. This, together with and updated engine producing 660HP, gives the car awesome performance topping out at 350 km/h. A closed underbody and a massive diffuser guarantees the necessary downforce for a car with this ability.
The model presented was sold new in Luxembourg. Its service book indicates that it has been perfectly maintained and regularly serviced, first by Mercedes Europa Woluwe , then by Woluwe Daimler AG München and by Mercedes Augsburg at 8,663 km. The last service has just been carried out by Mercedes Dubai for its current owner, the head of a multinational ready-to-wear clothing business, who is a great enthusiast and hypercar owner. The car comes with all its papers, service book, manuals, protective cover, original goggles and soft helmets. The SLR Stirling Moss is one of the most sought-after limited-edition supercars in the world and it is unusual for one to come up for sale, as most transactions take place by word of mouth ... A myth in its purest form!
