In the early 1980s, the Mercedes Benz teams began work on a replacement for the SL R107 launched in 1972. This was a major challenge for the Stuttgart teams, as the R107's success continued to grow year after year ....
And so, for this new generation, Mercedes Benz demonstrated all its know-how by creating a car of unprecedented quality. Developed at the same time as the S-Class W140, it introduced new engines, including a new 5-liter V8 with 326 hp. Designed by Bruno Sacco, its lines will never grow old. In a career spanning almost 13 years, it received only one restyling.
Our example, the 500 SL, was delivered new on July 1, 1992 to a certain Mr. Broeck by Garage de l'Athénée in Geneva, the brand's dealer. At the time, it was well optioned with leather, heated and electric seats, electric mirrors and other options. Importantly, our car does not come with the optional adaptive suspension.
The car was serviced by the same dealer until 1995.
In 1996, this Mercedes reappeared in Monaco, where it was registered MC 6953. The car was then serviced by SAMGF, the brand's importer in the principality. During this period, the car made regular return trips to Freiburg, where it was also serviced.
In 2019, the car was acquired by an enthusiast from Troyes. He then undertook a major overhaul in the brand's network. As the car had not been driven much in the previous ten years, the ignition and fuel system were overhauled. Last June, the car was serviced by a specialist in Paris.
Today, the car has just 104,000 km on the clock, its rare ashen silver color has not aged, and it's in beautiful condition. Our test drive of around 80 km revealed no particular problems. The only downside is that the central locking system no longer works. The electric hard top lift works, as does the soft top.
So, we offer you a beautiful SL R129, with a rare and elegant configuration. Most of them are gray or black with over 200,000 km.
