What we have come to greatly appreciate about certain car brands over the years is the vision they employed in the production of their automobiles. We see brands that built excellent quality cars, yet made them accessible not only to the very wealthy. Take, for example, the Lancia Aurelia; a car for the very affluent in the 1950s with outstanding finishing and, from a technological perspective, a very innovative vehicle. Then there is the Lancia Appia; a smaller version of the Aurelia with the same high-end finish, simpler in terms of technology, but certainly not inferior.

We see this reflected in the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL and the 190 SL as well. The extremely expensive Mercedes 300 SL was a sports car for a very select group of people. For those with a substantial budget but not sufficient to purchase the legendary 300 SL, there was the Mercedes 190 SL with the same refined finish. The Mercedes-Benz 190SL, announced in 1954, is an iconic classic car that began production in 1955. Based on the Mercedes-Benz 180 saloon and using the same independent suspension, the saloon's platform was reinforced to compensate for the reduced stiffness of the open body. This model was therefore highly sought after and is now a popular classic Mercedes. The 190SL was equipped with a 1,897cc overhead camshaft four-cylinder engine, the first of this type of engine in a Mercedes-Benz. With twin Solex carburetors, the M121 engine produced 105 hp, allowing the 190SL to effortlessly reach a top speed of around 170 km/h. Although the driving experience was more suited for touring than truly sporty performance, the 190SL was a great success, especially in the United States, where a significant portion of the nearly 26,000 units produced were sold.

This beautiful example of the elegant 190SL was completed in 1959 at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Stuttgart, Germany. The model is finished in the beautiful "Feuerwehrrot" with a black leather interior. Restoration and overhaul work have been carried out in the past, and upon closer inspection, it is clear that the car is still in a fine and well-maintained condition. This car has a true driver's quality; meaning the vehicle has all the qualities to step in and drive.

The red paint is neat, has a nice shine, and the bright chrome work such as bumpers and trim are in good condition, and the engine compartment is neatly maintained, as is the underside of the car. The beautifully finished black interior is inviting, with sturdy and good seat upholstery, and the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL type badge adorning the dashboard is further complemented by the classic VDO instruments and an ivory-colored steering wheel. This 190SL comes with the original manual, catalog, and a black soft top. Finally, this car has been modified with Weber carburetors, further enhancing the driving experience.
