Background:
Elegant and timeless, the Mercedes SEC was a style icon of its era that combined everything great about the legendary W126 chassis S-Class with Bruno Sacco’s handsome pillarless body. A shape that had no bad angles. For many, this was the ultimate GT car for long distance touring and a car to which many aspired.
The Car:
Finished in arguably one of the best colour combinations, Nautic Blue metallic with grey leather, the range-topping 560 SEC was regarded as the ultimate luxury coupé of the day. As one of the most expensive cars in the world at the time, it came comprehensively equipped as standard. It was powered by the M117 5.5-litre V8, mated to a 4G-Tronic automatic gearbox, offering 0-60mph in seven seconds. Standard specification included heated electric seats with memory, a limited-slip differential, electric steering, self-levelling suspension and ABS.
This beautiful example was supplied new to the UK on 1st March 1991 and finished in Nautic Blue Metallic with a cream leather interior. Our vendor understands it to be one of just two UK cars in similar specification and the sister car of the one owned by his father at the time.
Bought for nostalgic reasons in 2022, it has benefited from a full respray and a bespoke stainless steel exhaust system. Additional works include attention to the brakes, suspension and the fitting of 16" AMG wheels (originals included).
Having covered just shy of 70,000 miles from new, it is supplied with the original book packs, a service record containing 32 stamps, a detailed history file and numerous invoices.
