In 1985, Mercedes launched the 5.6-litre V8 engine with 300 bhp and 455 Nm torque, and the Mercedes 560 SEC was born. This initiative by the marque was intended to put an end to the race for power entered into by various preparers of the time. However, AMG, being closely connected with Mercedes, managed to obtain pre-production 5.6-litre engines, which allowed them to offer, from the winter of 1984, a 320 bhp 498 Nm version. Dressed in a black " dechromed " livery, the SEC coupé prepared by AMG was given the name " black demon " in Germany. Our SEC lives up to its name as the " black demon " of the autobahn, with its intimidating " Wide Body ", rear boot spoiler and legendary " Penta " 5-spoke wheels. The interior is elegantly sober, entirely trimmed in black, with electronically adjustable Recaro seats finished in leather. Only the varnished burr walnut trim and, in pride of place, the " AMG The Super Mercedes Grossaspach " plaque contrast with its sombre interior. As soon as you get behind the " AMG " steering wheel and wake up the generous V8 engine, it's immediately clear that the speedometer graduated up to 300 km/h isn't just there for decoration! The odometer shows just 56 750 km today.
The " Wide Body " version of the 560 SEC by AMG is an impressive machine when stationery. However, it's only in driving it that the powerful monster takes a hold, with the roof open and windows down, the demonic roar illustrating AMG's excessive know-how in this era of no limits!
