1989 Lister MkIII XJS Cabriolet

Manufactured by the Lister Cars and WP Automotive in 1989 from a new, Jaguar supplied Chassis / Body shell, this outstanding example of the MkIII Cabriolet has received a 3 year ‘no expense spared’, restoration and covered less than one thousand miles since completion in 2011. 1 of less than 100 MkIII’s built by Lister, in response to demand for a more powerful, finely honed and visually exciting car, than Coventry built Jaguars. Lister’s credentials in sports car racing, including multiple wins of the British GT championship and Le Mans 24hr race entries, needs no introduction.

Finished in its original specification Lister Dark Blue paintwork with Magnolia piped dark blue hide interior and matching dark blue fabric power operated hood.

Retaining its originally Lister / WP Automotive built engine, this impressive car is equipped with the favoured Getrag 5 speed transmission. The professionally rebuilt, fuel injected engine, believed to be 1 of 1 produced by Lister for non racing application, is to 6.5 litres as confirmed by stampings on the engines block and understood to produce circa 430bhp.

All original equipment including custom made 17’’ Lister alloy wheels have been retained in the restoration.

A comprehensive 220 page hard back book, with over 200 pictures detailing the restoration, shows this remarkable car to have been in a good condition, prior to being dismantled and being rebuilt to the very high standard as presented today.

Included with the sale is the desirable, model relevant vehicle registration number as displayed in the photographs.
